You're going to think I'm a pedant, but I was a Latin and Greek major in college, so I am compelled to say that only in four months are the Ides on the 15th: March, July, October, May. Every other month they are on the 13th. So today is actually the Ides of June plus four. Classicists curse Caesar to have the misfortune of being murdered on the Ides of March thus fixing the Ides=15th of the month in everyone's mind.
And, as the Romans actually counted backward from three days in a month (Kalends, or the first of the month, Nones, (5th or 7th), and Ides (13th or 15th)), today is actually XV Kalendes Iulii, or the 15th day before the first of July.
That is of course more than anyone normal needs to know. I hope that you get a job long before the Kalends of July, Brother.
