Brother Martin,
Shine the example of hipocracy to all the corners of the globe.
And he had the nerve to sign it fraternally thine?
You are a just and upright mason and a true American. Keep fighting the good fight.
I don't know what else to say but my prayers and thoughts are with you.

Will being expelled in KY have a negative influence on your membership in NY? Ie., is there a risk that they may take action against you, having been expelled in another jurisdiction?

The mind boggles. Hopefully it will not come to that.

Best and fraternal wishes.

Charles, in reading this, I thought it must be a joke. After all, I don't know of any Grand Secretaries who use "fraternally thine" or who would pre-suppose an expulsion, as that (in my jurisdiction) is for the Grand Lodge alone to decide. But I doubt you would joke about such a thing.

To respond to Munkholt, if you're expelled in one jurisdiction, you're generally considered expelled by all jurisdictions which recognise yours. But I've never heard of a situation described above ever happening before. I know of Masons who visited a local PH Lodge while they belonged to one jurisdiction that recognised it and one who didn't. They visited as a member of the jurisdiction that recognised the local PH GL. That was fine for all. Of course, our obligations are worded a little differently than those in the U.S.

Well, if Kentucky does not allow intervisitation, then he was technically in violation.

Times like this remind me of that line from Oliver: "Well, if that is the law, then the law is an ass."

I suppose it depends on which charter he visited the PH Lodge. If he was visiting as a NY Mason, can KY make any claims against him? I would be interested to here what jurisprudence has to say - after "Fraternally Thine" is soundly rebuked for questioning a solider. American GL turned a blind-eye in WWII was GI's visited Lodges in France. There are some instances where brotherhood overrides recognition.

Wow, Brother. As one new to Masonry, this is all so strange to me. I was honored to have a Prince Hall Past Master present at my degrees, and cannot understand how any who hold to the tenants of Masonry could treat you this way. I will pray that the Grand Lodge of Kentucky comes to its senses.

I am not sure how such things work with expulsion and recognition, but if the Prince Hall Masons are as disgusted with this as I am, perhaps you should consider petitioning the Prince Hall Lodge you visited. They know you to be a worthy Brother.

Good luck.
